The Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations (C.H.I.P.) require suppliers of chemicals to identify the hazards associated with their products. Some hazard information will be supplied on labels, but an important requirement of C.H.I.P. is that the supplier must provide detailed information on a Material Safety Data Sheet (M.S.D.S.). This information can then be used by the user of the product to complete a C.O.S.H.H. (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Assessment.
If you buy in a product and sell it on, you are permitted to copy the M.S.D.S. However, there is an obligation to check the accuracy and adequacy of the information.
