Monday 17th July
ConocoPhillips and JET are pleased to have helped out on a recent day out for underprivileged children.
On Wednesday 12th of July, JET provided the fuel for the LTFUC's (London Taxidrivers' Fund for Underprivileged Children) annual day out. 300 'special needs' and disadvantaged children were taken on a trip to Southend-on-Sea in a convoy of 100 decorated Taxis.
The Taxis left London's Victoria Park at 9.30am. Children were served a lunch of Fish and Chips and Ice Cream upon their arrival to the sea front, and were treated to non stop fun on free rides, aswell as visits to the pier and amusement arcades. In the evening there was a disco, with various other attractions including a magician and a baloonist!
The Fund’s Hon. Chairman, David Lessman, made a speech welcoming everyone and also welcomed the Mayor of Southend, Councillor Ron Price and Mayoress Mrs Janice Price. The Mayor & Mayoress were delighted to hand prizes out for the two best-decorated taxis. The first prize, the Terry Stapleton Rose Bowl, went to Cab No. 15, driver Stephen Bell, whose cab was decorated with England in the World Cup. The second prize, which was the Peter Lucas Shield, went to Cab No. 86, driver Ruben Frampton, whose cab was decorated with teddy bears
The LTFUC would like to thank all the Taxi Drivers and helpers on this thoroughly enjoyable day out!
