ABERDEEN β 28 November 2007 β ConocoPhillips (U.K.) Limited, as operator, announces the successful achievement of first production from the Kelvin field on 15 November 2007, approximately two weeks ahead of schedule. The initial peak production rate from the well is 135 million standard cubic feet per day (mmcfd).
The Kelvin field lies in blocks 44/18b and 44/23b of the United Kingdom Continental Shelf, and is tied back via a 12 inch, 13 kilometre pipeline to the ConocoPhillips-operated Murdoch platform. Murdoch is part of the Caister Murdoch transportation system that delivers gas to the Theddlethorpe gas terminal.
John Warrender, manager of ConocoPhillips' Southern North Sea Operating Unit, said: βThe Kelvin development is another example of success for ConocoPhillips in the UK. The project has been delivered ahead of schedule and under budget, and the safety and environmental performance has been excellent with no recordable incidents.β
