Increased Recovery

Wintry weather at Kelvin. In November 2007, the Kelvin development was brought onstream. It is one in a long line of small fields in the Southern North Sea that have been developed by ConocoPhillips over the past 11 years using the ‘Sea Harvester’ concept. The Southern North Sea ‘project factory’ has now delivered over one trillion cubic feet of new gas to the UK using these methods.

Kelvin’s design is a two well-slot variant of the original ‘Sea Harvester’ platform concept, which was initially implemented on the Boulton field. Since Boulton, 10 projects have been successfully been developed, seven of which used increasingly refined versions of this concept. With each project, the team improved upon the previous development. These improvements ensure the minimum economic field size is accessible for new developments, unlocking opportunities for our existing and future exploration portfolio.
