The School Run Code is a road safety initiative sponsored by Jet Service Stations in conjunction with local schools and education authorities and Brake, the road safety charity. Its primary concern is to safeguard children arriving at and leaving schools by encouraging carers to be safe and responsible during the ‘school run.' They can demonstrate this by parking their cars well away from the yellow zig zag markings outside the school entrance, and by following our simple School Run Code:

• Always allow enough time for the journey.
• Drive at 20mph or less around schools, taking extra care to watch out for children crossing.
• Stop the car well away from the ‘yellow’ zone around the school gates.
• Consult your School Travel Plan for designated drop-off spots or use a local car park wherever possible.
• Be patient with other drivers dropping off children.
• Encourage other parents to follow your example.

• Block the school entrance.
• Stop on the yellow lines or zig zag markings.
• Get distracted by your children while driving.
• Park on the pavement.
• Block people’s driveways.
• Park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction.
